AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) is a child development program dedicated to providing a healthy soccer experience for young people aged 4-18. In Region 88, we have nearly 2200 children and over 150 teams competing in soccer. The five guiding principles behind one of the largest youth sports program in the country are:
In Under-5 through Under-12, every player is guaranteed to
play half the game.
(A child can not learn to play soccer by watching from the bench. All children agree that playing is a lot more FUN than watching.)
The teams are selected each year to ensure balance
among the teams with respect to age and ability.
(All soccer players understand that a worthy opponent is a
gift)
As long as there is a space to be filled and a
field to play on, Region 88 continues to register any player
between 4 1/2 and 18 who wants to play.
( Life is about differences some children are tall, some are
short, some are faster than others, commonality all want to
have an opportunity to play.)
Region 88 provides many coaching clinics and demands
that all coaches respect their players, give positive encouragement
and training and have a lot of fun!
(All children want to be part of a learning environment that
allows for mistakes)
We strive to make every player, every parent,
every coach, every referree and every spectator look for
sportsmanship, friendship and fun as a good rule of thumb
to live by in Region
88.
(Children will do the right thing because it is the right
thing)
