Good Sportsmanship

AYSO Principle #5:
"We strive to make every player, every parent, every coach, every referee and every spectator look for sportsmanship, friendship and fun as a good rule of thumb to live by in Region 88."

One of the main principles of AYSO, as shown above, is "Good Sportsmanship". This enbodies all that we do, whether it is a parent, a coach, or player, a referee or any other person involved with our region.

Year after year, Region 88 is filled with many, many acts of great sportsmanship. Unfortunately, most of these are overlooked in favor of a few complaints about the bad call, the overbearing coach, foul-mouthed kid, or the shrieking parent to name a few.

We prefer to highlight and honor the good acts. Although we expect great sportsmanship all year long, we are dedicating a special week to Good Sportsmanship from October 21st - October 28th. During this week, we will unveil our "Good Sportsmanship" Awards winners (one player fom each team), and we wiil begin to showcase other "Good Sportsmanship Acts" submitted by our Region 88 soccer family.

2) For All Others Good Sportsmanship Acts
Region 88 wants to set a positive role for our children and wants to reward the goods acts on our sports field by highlighting, on our website, the good sportsmanship acts by our Region 88 family.

How to submit? Starting today, if you see one of our Region 88 family members (a parent, a coach, a player, a referee, a volunteer, on our fields) making an exceptional act of good sportsmanship, go to the "Good Sportsmanship Act" form and submit your good act. We will begin posting them on our website during "Good Sportsmanship Week".

At the end of the year, from our submittals, on our website, we will showcase the "Best Sportsmanship Act of the Year."
