The BU19 Glendale team entered the tournament not having any previous experience together and gelled in the bracket play to emerge as the top seed.

Facing Winnetka in the final championship game the 88 team, down 1-0 at half, showed the poise and composure of a champion. Playing a man down and thwarting two penalty kick attempts from the opponent they wily offense slotted two exciting goals to put a stamp on their 2-1 victory.

With barely 2 practices in it's pocket, Glendale United rolled through its opponents (South Pasadena, Hollywood, Chatsworth and Pasadena) in pool play by scores of 7-0, 4-0, 5-0 and 5-1, respectively.

To top off the weekend, the championship game pitted Glendale United with the other Glendale team, Glendale B, who overcame 6 nerve-wracking tiebreakers to get to the final.

Although favored to win, the Glendale United team was predictably caught offguard by a fired up Glendale B team, whose sheer heart and determination controlled much of the game and inspired the crowd.

The Glendale United team's wide open attack of speed and excellent passing was made ineffective by the small, lumpy field, and their relentless opponent, as Glendale B kept United on their heels for much of the game.

Despite the game not going as smoothly as planned, the Glendale United team was patient, methodical, and determined to pull a victory out in the end. It took a while, but slowly the Glendale United team began to turn the tide.

With a bunch of near misses by both teams, but no goals, the 0-0 game went into overtime. With only a few minute to go, Chris C looked to the heavens and kicked a perfect corner right to the head of Patrick A for the game winning goal for Glendale United.

Congratulations to Glendale United for using calm and character to win a deserved championship. Overall, the team scored 22 goals and only gave up 1 goal.

Well done Chris C, Jonathon G, Kevin P, Joncarlo P, Rafa M, Rodolfo A, Sevan Z, Joseph S, Alan G, Walker F, Allen E, Philip K, Tim N, Patrick A, Alejandro J, and Coaches Chris Ryder and Carlos Pena.

The U10 Boys "Glendale United" Team coached by John Raleigh with assistant coach Rick Martinez won the U10 Boys Championship by winning all their games without a loss or tie. Glendale United beat Pasadena, San Pedro, Arcadia, and Beverly Hills to qualify for the Finals.

In the Final Game, Glendalebeat a physical Santa Monica team 3-1. The only goal by Santa Monica was a penalty kick. Best of all, every player on the team scored at least one goal during the tournament. This U10 team was an outstanding and disciplined group of players that listened very well to the coaches during practice and the games with: beautifully executed plays upon call by their
coaches, immediately formed their planned defensive strategies upon call by their coaches, and executed passes to each other over and over and over again to score amazing goals in each game.

Well done Harout C., Cameron R, Michael A., Sean H, Eric H. Ian P., Berj G., Jacob M., John T., Chris S. and Coaches John Raleigh and Rick Martinez

The 2nd Glendale team, Glendale B, recovered from a heart-breaking first game loss to win three straight games to tie for 1st place in it's pool. After 6 nerve-wracking tie-breakers, Glendale won the coin-toss to pit both Glendale teams against each other for the championship game.

In the final, Glendale B was the definite underdog but came our fighting and surprised the other Glendale team with sheer heart, determination and a never-say-die attitude. The final was a great showing of Glendale's talent as both teams could have won this game. The game went to overtime and Glendale B was scored on in the final minutes on a corner-kick. Overall, an incredible display by the team and a joy to watch by their fans.

Congratulations to Glendale B for a passionate, gritty performance in the final and well-deserved 2nd place spot in the tournament.

Well done Joshua J, Chris R, Bassel, T, Angel A, Bijan A, Daniel B, Michael A, Alex M, Alejandro R, Armen K, Cameron D, Stanley C, Ian R, Jason L, and Coaches Angell Jarmillo and Tom Regan.

The Glendale U12 girls team represented Region 88 at Myles Standish tournament in 2006 and performed wonderfully.

They finished 3rd receiving bronze medal  with a record of 3 wins, 1 tie and 1 loss. The girls had only been playing with each other for 2 weeks. Despite that, they came together , supported one another and played like a true team. Best of all, they are great friends and will cherish this time together for years to come.  Natalie's mom and dad did a superb job by providing all the snacks and bringing in their RV for the girls to relax and enjoy in between games.  The girls team  scored 11 goals and only allowed 3 goals.
