The
mighty Avengers Xll (Region 88 and Area C Boys Under-14 champions)
advanced to play in the Section 1 Tournament in Beaumont and Hemet
in early
March. They had an outstanding showing and have made the entire Glendale/La
Crescenta area quite proud!.

Section Tournament Play
In the first game on Saturday,. the Avengers
played the 1st place team from Hawthorne and beat them 3-2. In
the 2nd game they played
Fontana
and
beat them soundly 4-0. In the final game on Saturday, they played an
always strong Redlands team and again won 4-2.
By winning their pool play they advanced to the semi-finals and finals on Sunday.
In the morning game they played the ultimate tournament champs (L.A. Central) and lost 4-1. However, they regrouped and won their final game 4-2 beating a great team from the host of the tournament, Hemet.
The Avengers Xll finished in 3rd place in Section 1, quite an achievement for a Region 88 team.
The Avengers finished their season with 20 wins and 2 losses and had a great time playing soccer for 8 months.
The team of Victor Aquino, Ara Berberian, George Diaz, Christian Ferris, Rene Goldfarb-ILyashov, Hovig Harutunian, Josiah Lero, Paul Lim, Jon Lyans, Brain Martin, Eric Moradian, Geoffrey Moser, Christian Nitu, David Sternau and Asst. Coach Mike Sternau and Coach Richard Lyans had a dream season.
