AYSO Region 88 Glendale

What is a Team Manager?

The AYSO Team Manager, sometimes called Team Parent,
or Team Mom, or Team Dad, is a crucial element of every team. They are the coach's assistant, cheerleader, team communicator, and traffic director all in one.

The Team Manager is also the unofficial Kids Zone representative at every game. Kids Zone is one of the
ways AYSO makes sure all its players and volunteers are having fun. The program encourages spectators to use
good language, show good sportsmanship in attitude and behavior, and create an enjoyable season for every player.

Guidelines for Team Coordinators

Welcome to AYSO Region 88 and thank you for your support of our players and coaches. This page has several links that are designed to help you stay informed and to offer resources to assist you in completing the tasks required of the team parent. The AYSO volunteer position of team parent is intended to carry out duties as directed by the team parent coordinator.

A team parent is expected to:

  • Distribute information to the coaches, players, and families of AYSO players; and
  • Assist with distribution of team and individual photos, fundraising materials, and awards or certificates to the players.

To be considered for the position of team parent, the applicant should:

  • Be a good communicator
  • Be organized
  • Be dependable

While performing as the team parent, the volunteer is:

  • Subject to the bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines of AYSO;
  • Under the overall authority of and directly supervised by the regional commissioner; and
  • To maintain the recommended adult to child supervision ratio of 1:8 or less; that is one adult for every eight or fewer children and two adults (one of whom may be the coach and one of whom should be of the same gender as the group) present at all times. For the protection of both the children and the volunteer, no volunteer should permit himself or herself to be alone with any child or group of children (except his or her own) during AYSO-sponsored activities.
